I hasten to acknowledge the kind letter of the receipt of your very welcome letter which has just come to hand, to which I feel very much obliged.
My Mother and I having considered the matter, have decided that I should endeavour and obtain the appointment so kindly offered.
With honour to yourself, and Credit to my humble abilities, I therefore beg to request a letter of application to M. Latouche and to your patronage, (availing myself of your kind permission and suggestion) to any place under the Crown where sound judgment and such abilities are required, for the presentation of real talent.
